update on us 5/5/12

5 May

Fallon Elizabeth Stump finally decided to show up on 4/28/12 at 3:10 am.  She was 9.6 lbs and 21 3/4in long.  She’s a big girl and looks more like a month old baby rather than a newborn.  All my kids have been like that!  BIG!!

I wanted to give a quick update on us and also share the significance of her name.  We are all doing well here at home.  Fallon is adjusting the best out of all of us, with me probably falling in last place.  I had a rough labor and am having a hard time bouncing back like I thought I would:0).

Graham did great pulling an all-nighter the night she was born, although 10 minutes afterwards he was sound asleep next to me as I smiled and checked out our new daughter.  It has taken him a few days to re-adjust, but overall he’s loving this new little girl in his life.  We are so blessed.

Fallon is named after someone we met (Graham sort of remembers) while going through everything we went through with the accident.  Graham was in the ICU for 3 weeks and although that doesn’t seem long, it felt like forever for me.  The news I was receiving during that time concerning Graham was not ever positive and after a while I couldn’t help but grow discouraged.  After being discharged from the ICU, Graham was moved to the Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital where he met many new people.

One special person we met was his physical therapist who happened to be named Fallon.  She was young like us and full of energy.  She evaluated Graham the first day he was there and was the first person to tell me that she thought ‘Graham was still in there.’  She also claimed that he would one day be ‘functional’ again.  I was skeptical, but there was something in how she said it all that made me believe her.

Time would tell, and only the Lord could actually heal Graham, as we all know, but her words to me would forever remain.

I witnessed every possible session I could with Graham and was amazed at all she did with him.  She pushed him and was just so sweet the entire time…..even when Graham said some nasty things to her.

Graham doesn’t remember much from his stay at Sunnyview, but he remembers Fallon (he even tried to kiss her once:0)

When we found out we were having a girl, there was no question what we wanted to name her.  Every time we look at our Fallon I am reminded of so much the Lord has done for us: the miracles He performed in Graham and also the special people He used to get Graham back to what he is today!  The glory is the Lord’s alone and Fallon is a testament to us of His grace, mercy and love toward us.

Humor of the day:

** When my labor finally started Graham thought I was faking….he hurt my feelings and made me cry:0)  (I guess you had to be there)

** My dad thinks that I am giving Graham a run for his money in my recovery process.  Watching me walk around the house and try to tend to the children is rather pathetic right now.

** We are still sleeping in separate beds.   The only difference now is that Fallon is sharing the bed with me.  Watching Graham at night with a newborn is kind of scary, so we decided he should at least get some sleep.

** Graham was begging to go back to work within a couple days……??  That also kind of hurt my feelings:0) He doesn’t do well here at home out of his routine and playing Mr. Mom.  I sent him back and am eternally grateful for my mother who lives right next door!

Thanks for sharing in our journey!!

p.s.  Her name is pronounced foul-lynne or like Jimmy Fallon :0)

Congratulations!!! She is so beautiful! She is one lucky little girl to be born in a family that will teach and guide her into her own relationship with the Lord. Keep on walking in faith and thank you for continuing your post here. It is very encouraging to check in on you all and see what God has done and is doing in your lives. God Bless…Tami

I hope things have returned a little more to normal by now! Fallon is beautiful – and probably perfectly spoiled by now.

Good to know that all is well – although we knew that He would take care of all of you!

    Keep smiling – and loving!
